ROLE OF MUSEUM EMERGENCY SUPPORT TEAMS (MEST)

MESTs are organized by representatives of institutions within a given region of the state, and are assisted in this effort by the Virginia Association of Museums.  MESTs work together to help each other prepare for emergency situations, gain awareness of and support from local government and emergency officials, talk about possible scenarios and gather supplies as a group.  MESTs may also provide technical assistance to those institutions in their region which do not have a written disaster plan.  MESTs will be informed by VAM when an emergency situation occurs in their region, and individual members may step in to serve in the role of a response team member.

Hampton History Museum will host the PMF August 6th Meeting   The speaker will be the representative from Richmond for VIRGINIA GREEN Campaign.  He can give presentation and share how a museum can go green.

Oct. will be at the Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis.
